What is Green?
|
Green Building practices promote the construction of buildings that are healthier for the occupants and healthier for the environment. Sustainable or “green” building practices can reduce the tremendous impact that building design, construction and maintenance have on both people and the environment. According to the U.S. Department of Energy's Center for Sustainable Development, buildings consume 40% of the world's total energy, 25% of its wood harvest and 16% of its water.
The building industry is the nation's largest manufacturing activity, representing more than 50% of the nation's wealth and 13% of its Gross Domestic Product. Energy and materials consumption in buildings can contribute significantly to global climate change. By making a concerted effort towards selecting sustainable and Earth-friendly materials, utilizing alternative energy sources like solar and geothermal, and reducing our water consumption we can make a significant difference in our environment.

Becoming Green is, by design, a simpler choice than doing things in the conventional or traditional way. Whether you choose to slowly incorporate Green practices into your existing home by renovating with more environmentally-friendly heating and cooling options, or start from scratch on a new home, we can help you make the right choices to create the home you've dreamed of, while helping you become less dependent on fossil fuels and less of a drain on our Earth's resources.
